A beach cottage's sewer line has often put in a lot of years of service, and when the diagnosis finally says the line itself is failing, the trench picture follows fast. Through the little yard, maybe the patio, everything a beach lot packs into its precious square footage. There's another option worth knowing about. For some failing lines, the rebuild can happen inside the existing pipe, and the lot may stay largely as it is.
Pipe lining, CIPP, often goes in through a cleanout near the house. A resin soaked liner presses against the walls of the old line and cures into a new pipe within it, jointless and structural. For IB's older lines, roots that slipped in through joints, cracks or failed connections lose those gaps in the lined section. The cottage can often keep its yard and the patio its bricks.
Lining rebuilds pipe that's damaged but still holding its shape, and a camera inspection helps show which kind of line you have. Some qualify, some genuinely need other work, and the footage helps show which way your line goes. You see the footage, get the plain English version and decide, and the work goes to a licensed contractor once you're ready.
