On a bigger Poway lot, the sewer line can run under a driveway, a long yard, trees and sometimes horse property on its way to the street. Digging all that up is a big job. Pipe lining can avoid it, because the new pipe goes in from the inside, often through a cleanout, so the ground over that section often stays as it is.
CIPP stands for cured in place pipe. A resin soaked liner is fed into the old line, pressed against its walls, and cured into a smooth new pipe inside it. On a long run with a joint every few feet, one continuous liner covers all of them in the section that gets lined.
Lining needs the old pipe to keep its shape, which the contractor can check on camera. If yours qualifies, you'll hear the options and tradeoffs in plain English, and the decision is yours. A licensed contractor does the work when you give the go.
