A backup tells you something is wrong. It doesn't tell you what. It could be roots finding a joint, a section that shifted, a low spot holding water, or years of grease. Those are four different problems with four different fixes, and standing in the yard looking at the ground tells you nothing about which one you've got.
The camera answers it. A small camera goes down through the cleanout, the capped pipe outside that opens into your sewer line, and travels along the line toward the street sending back live video, as far as access and the pipe's condition allow. What's on the screen gives everyone the same evidence to look at. You see the roots, or the crack, or the water sitting in a low spot, or the grease and food sludge coating the wall, or a pipe that's old and still doing its job fine.
Do it before the decisions you can't take back, before a major repair gets approved, before an older El Cajon house changes hands, or before another year of the same backup every winter.
